Off-Camera Flash Workshop (Intermediate)

One-day  |  8 hours  |

Limited to 7 places  (min. 4 students required)
Tutor:  Andrew Watson

Workshop Description:
This is a one-day workshop for those who want to learn the art of off-camera flash for creating striking portraits using small strobes (such as Canon Speedlites).  As a pre-requisite, students should have a good understanding of DSLR basics and be comfortable with the manual controls of their camera and flash.

Starting in the studio, students will learn the basics of lighting portraits using one small flash.  The use of light modifiers (such as umbrellas & snoots), light stands, wireless triggers, reflectors and coloured gels will also be covered.  In the afternoon, we’ll move outside to learn how to light portraits on location using one or multiple flashes.

This is a practical, hands-on course and students should have a digital SLR and an external flash unit.  An off-camera flash cord, wireless or infra-red trigger would also be advantageous, though not essential.

Please note:  This course is designed primarily around the use of Canon Speedlites (580EX and 430EX) and Nikon Speedlights (SB-600, SB-700, SB-800, SB-900).
