One-day | 8 hours |
Limited to 7 places (min. 4 students required)
Tutor: Andrew Watson
Workshop Description:
This hand-on workshop is aimed at students who love photographing people and want to learn how to create great portraits. Starting in the studio, students will firstly gain an insight in posing basics – looking at some of the considerations in posing males, females, couples & groups.
We’ll then move on to looking at using depth-of-field, different lenses and other photographic techniques for creative effect. Composition will also be explored as well as how to direct and communicate with your subjects. Using various outdoor locations, students will put these into practice and also learn how to light portraits using natural light and basic equipment such as reflectors and bounced flash.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to set up portrait shots on location. You will also be able to use photographic techniques and creative composition to make the most of your subjects, and gain a basic understanding of using light to bring your portraits to life.
Students should have at minimum completed a Beginner’s DSLR course and have a good understanding of exposure and the manual controls of their camera.
